Christmas Letter (Class 14)

Due 12-2-21

Your homework is to type a holiday letter to a Sr. citizen or soldier whom you do not know. It must be well written and interesting!  There is a link provided that is a great guide.

How to write a personal holiday letter:

When you begin to write, think carefully about what you want to say and how you can spread kindness. A KWO is a GREAT way to plan your letter.

Open with a warm greeting, acknowledging the upcoming Christmas season. Introduce yourself.

Make sure you follow the rules for a proper letter.

Let your reader know who you are and why you’re writing.
Be kind and thoughtful. Consider how you can craft a unique message that comes from your heart.
Give some personal flair. Include an bit of what your life is like — you might mention happy news, accomplishments, noteworthy goals, and/or humorous events, etc.

Make polite inquiries about the life of the reader.

In closing, express your wishes for a pleasant holiday. EXAMPLE: I wish you good health, happiness and a wonderful new year.
Sign your name to the letter to show your reader it’s coming from a kind and genuine person: you.

An example of what you might say to explain why you are writing to your person:
I am in Mrs. Cortez writing class, and we are practicing the old fashioned art of letter writing. In these days of instant messages, social media, and emails, it seems as if letter writing has become quite forgotten. Mrs. Cortez told me that you would be open to receiving my letter, and I am happy to connect with you across the miles.
